How do I cancel an event?

If you need to cancel an event, it’s important to update your event page and communicate with your attendees. When deciding on your messaging and course of action, you’ll want to consider the reason you’re cancelling and whether or not you’re offering an alternative or a refund. 

  1. Close sales on your event page.
    • Go to Event Details – Registrations/Tickets.

    • Click the Settings (gear icon) for each of your registrations/tickets.

    • The second calendar is the close date. Set it for a past date and time to close sales immediately.
    • Click SAVE.
  1. Update your event description to communicate the cancellation to anyone that lands on the event page.
    • Edit your description by clicking the Edit button to the right of the event name at the top of the page and scrolling to the Description box.
  2. Reach out to your attendees.
  3. As a final outreach we also recommend updating your confirmation email with a new custom message and resending confirmations to all of your participants.
  4. Finally, don’t forget to update your social media.
Please Note: If you plan on cancelling all of the tickets, an email is sent at that time. We suggest emailing an announcement to your attendees first so it’s not a surprise when they receive the cancellation email.
